2007-01-23 First day of class

We arrived at school at nine o’clock and the teachers put us in 3 groups , one different subject for each group. We studied brakes and suspension of pneumatic systems. The other 2 groups worked on engines and electricity. We have seen the different systems , each component of the brake system, how the system and its components work. We have done theorical lessons and practiced on simulated systems and trucks. We had a good feeling about the lessons and we will change of subject tomorrow.

2007-01-24 Electrical techniques

Day by day we’re beating down the walls of language and culture, this make it easier for us to follow the class and with more communication and teamwork we improve our knowledge to the hightest level. Today we started with electrical techniques, we have made many different circuits of the car and measurements with the multimeter. The equipment and the teacher are good, there is a good atmosphere and we’re enjoying the classes so this experience will be unforgettable and will open us the door of a new way of working and learning.

2007-01-25 AIR BRAKE SYSTEM

Today, we studied the air brake system all the day. We tested the air brake system in the trucks. We studied the compressor, the governor (control unit), air dryer with governor, quadruple protection valves and air storage tanks. Then after seeing all these things, on the paper and on the screen, we did the practical part at the workshop with different trucks. After each day, the group goes better and better, and we learn more about heavy vehicles. Every day we understand better all the clases, we speak more with the other students, and we laugh when we do funny things.

Today we restarted the classes at the CFI, because last week we went to make practices on different companies of the French colleagues. This morning teachers and students made a report about the experience in company and we discussed the negative and positive points during the week in the workshop. Then, we did a flow chart about the steps to follow when you check a circuit that is broken. After lunch we went to the sports center to play a volleyball match, and then we left to the hotel.

2007-02-06 Electricity

Today we have done electrics class and we have learned how to make an electric diagram and electric system of position lamps, dipped lamps, driving lamps and fog lamps. It was easy but we had some problems when we upgraded the system adding more lamps because we started only with position lamps and we finished with all the lights using a relay. It was very interesting to work together in this circuit searching for different ways to find solutions to the different problems that all the circuits had.

2007-02-07 The brake system

Today we have been learning pneumatics and we have seen the different break systems : disk and drum brake. After theorical lessons we have disassembled both systems in the trucks. We have also learned about the breaking equilibrium and we had to check it with a machine for this purpose. It was very en so interesting and we have learnt a lot.

2007-02-09 Diesel Engine

At the beginning of the day every Spanish and almost every French student came to school a bit late so we wasted a little time for the practice otherwise it was good. We adjusted the injection time on a diesel van engine. Today it was the last day and we learned much mecanical and improved our English. In the workshop we started one truck engine (model engine) to control the voltage of the sensors. In the afternoon we studied the theory and the history of the common rail system and other systems in the computer room. Ha de gott, au revoir, adios!

2008-02-06 28th January

We left Nation at 7 and we went to Versailles. We arrived at 8 and Damien picked us up half an hour after because Versailles is 15 kilometers from the company (in Trappes). Then we meet the company’s owners and the workshop boss, and the mechanics men and the repair men. Damien showed us the company, the different trucks because it’s a rent company. After this we went to a custumers place to do a servicejobs. There were about ten trucks. After the lunch we began to disassemble an accidented truck untill the end of the day, at about 4.30. Damien left us at the Trappes Station and from there we took the train to Montparnasse directly. And from Montparnasse the Metro is on line 6 and goes to Nation .We came to the Hotel at 6.30.
